Why Do Slot and Bingo Sites Go Together So Well?

Lots of bingo players like to play slots, and to a lesser extent, slot players also like to play bingo. For this reason, many bingo sites like to offer a wide range of slot game and plenty of sites offer sign up bonuses that combine both slots and bingo games.

There are two ways that these bonuses are normally combined:

  1. One bonus that can be used for either game, such as “spend £5 get £30”
  2. Two bonuses, one for bingo and one for slots, such as “spend £5 get £20 in free bingo play + 50 free spins”

Often when the bonuses are split you’ll find that the slot portion is given as free spins. This means that the bonus funds you received are for bingo and the free spins are for slots. It doesn’t always happen this way, but it’s fairly common.

Wagering Requirements

One important fact to note is that bingo games and slot games normally have very different wagering requirements. Bingo bonuses often have very small wagering requirements, sometimes as low as 1x (meaning that you just have to buy tickets once and any winnings are as good as cash). Slots, on the other hand, normally have a higher wagering requirement of 10x, 20x or 30x+ the bonus amount.

When it comes to free spins, the wagering requirement is normally tied to the amount you win on the free spins. So if you received 50 free spins and won a total of £10 from them, the wagering requirements are based on the £10 winnings and not the value of the original 50 free spins. This means if you don’t win anything from the free spins, then there’s no wagering requirements at all (a double edged sword, perhaps!).

Example: Spend £10 Get £50 + 100 Free Spins

In our fictional example you deposit and wager £10 of your own money on bingo games to trigger the bonus. You receive £50 in bingo credits with a 2x wagering requirement and 100 free spins with a 20x wagering requirement.

Bingo – You play through the £50 in bingo credits and win £40. However the bonus had a 2x wagering requirement, meaning you need to wager a total of £100 playing bingo before the bonus or winnings are converted to cash. This means you still need to play through another £50 of bingo from your £40. If you purchase £40 of bingo tickets and win nothing, the remaining £10 wagering requirement should be wiped clean. However if you purchase £40 in bingo tickets and win another £60, then you’ll need to play through the final £10 of your winnings.

Slots – You 100 free spins have a 20x wagering requirement, but only on the amount you won. From the free spins you win £37, meaning that your wagering requirements are £740 on slots. It may sound like a lot, but don’t forget that slot spins are a lot faster than bingo games so you’ll clear through that in no time. Once the £740 wagering has been met then anything that’s left is converted to cash (or withdrawable funds, to use the bingo sites lingo). As with the bingo bonus, if your bonus reaches zero before you’ve met the wagering requirements then the remainder will almost always be wiped clean.
