Special Features
Chests of Plenty steers away from the typical ‘single game’ bonus rounds, instead giving you a few options within its own Special Features. Here’s a look at the details of each:
Treasure Chest Scatter
You might be fortunate enough to be on the receiving end of some chests of treasure landing on your game. These scatters give you a chance to win some decent money, with the chests opening to reveal some gems. Get three of the same gem and you’ll be payed out some winnings according to the value of the stake you played with. The chests will keep spitting out gems until there are none left, so you’ll have the opportunity to win multiple times. This is also how you win the progressive jackpot, as we’ll explain later.
Bonus Scatter
The bonus scatter is a game that contains other games. Land three, four or five Treasure Map Scatters and you’ll have triggered the Treasure Island Bonus. There are three different islands you’ll be able to visit, with Booty Island being the one you’ll head to if you land three Treasure Map Scatters. Prizes there range from fifteen to one thousand coins.
Four Treasure Map Scatters will send you to Isle of Plenty, whereby you’ll be able to win between fifty and one and a half thousand coins. Jackpot Island is the final one you’ll be able to visit, with five Treasure Map Scatters being the thing that triggers that. This island has a top prize of two thousand coins. Whichever island you land on, you’ll navigate it by spinning the Wheel of Fortune and will keep moving around it until your spin lands on the skull and crossbones. There’s also the opportunity to win a mystery award, which will give you something like a pass to the next map or some free spins.
Wilds
Even the Wilds on Chests of Plenty offer more than you’d think. Chesty, which is the somewhat sexist name awarded to the blonde beauty that adorns the Wild symbol, can have a strange affect on a pirate. If you happen to land Chesty directly to the left or right of a Pirate then they will also become Wild.
Treasure Chest Progressive
When telling you about the Treasure Chest Scatter before we mentioned that that’s also the way in which you’ll get access to the progressive jackpot. That’s because you’ll be on the receiving end of the sometimes rather massive jackpot if you happen to open three treasure chests and discover three diamonds in each. That’s why it’s called the Nine Diamond Progressive. At the time of writing that stands at just over £368,000, so it’s not an amount to be sniffed at.
Gameplay & RTP
Chests of Plenty is a fun little game with a story that makes sense throughout. The main screen sits in front of a beach, behind which is an aquamarine sea with a pirate ship sailing on top of it. The symbols are all sat on tiles of a treasure map, with the exception of the important symbols like Chesty, the Pirate and the treasure chests. The reels spin smoothly without any bother, which always makes for a more pleasant gaming experience and, believe it or not, isn’t guaranteed.
In terms of the bonuses, there are enough of them and they work in such a way that you’ll be constantly going back in the hopes of hitting them. The possibility of spinning your way around an island and collecting prizes as you go is too much to resist. That’s to say nothing of the Nine Chests of Plenty themselves that pay out decent prizes before you even get around the mentioning the Nine Diamond Progressive Jackpot, which can get pretty large.
The major disappointment of this game is the Return To Player amount of 93.07%. There are many games that are far worse than that, but there are also enough that are significantly better than it to mean that it might put some of you off. You’d hope in a game called ‘Chests of Plenty’ that they’d be able to find a way of making the RTP fit a little more inline with the nature of the game, but apparently not.
