Gameplay & RTP

Marine Mayhem Mini Logo This game is entirely inoffensive and a pleasant distraction if you’re looking to take a break from the bingo proper, but you’d struggle to say it was anything more than that. The theme is well maintained throughout, from the large whale and Sea World-esque writing in the games title through to the sea noises that you’ll hear when you first load the slot, there’s plenty to enjoy about it. The symbols that land on your reels are also a decent continuation of the theming, with sea turtles landing next to sea horses, jellyfish and two types of whale. There’s even a clownfish thrown in there for those of you that remember Finding Nemo. The Aces and Kings have bits of coral stuck to them, whilst the progressive jackpot being triggered by seeing five Treasure Chests land on your win lines is another nice touch.

The reels spin well enough, though there’s a degree of blurriness when they first start moving that can make the eyes feel funny. That blurriness doesn’t really rectify itself until the reels come to a stop, so if you tend to get headaches if things don’t run smoothy then that’s something you’ll want to bear in mind. Ultimately, of course, there’s nothing more than just the standard slot machine nature of this game to catch the eye, with no in-play games to distract or amuse you. How much that matters will be down to personal choice, though if you’re someone who tends to get bored quite quickly then there’s a likelihood that you’ll do exactly that when playing Marine Mayhem Mini.

The ‘Mini’ in the game’s title is suggestive of the notion that it’s not really intended to be anything too grandiose, which is perhaps worth bearing in mind. There are some games on the Virtue Fusion network that have a dozen or more in-game special features, with this slot never intending to compete with them. Ultimately its job is to keep you entertained for a few minutes at a time and on that front it’s a success. The Return To Player average of 93% isn’t terrible, but it’s not the best we’ve seen by a long shot. It’s decent enough to mean you’ll play the game a few times without worrying about how much money you’re going to be winning or losing, but it’s not high enough to mean that you’ll come back time and again. We’re firm believers in the gameplay itself being more important than the RTP and that’s perfectly fine. Not the most thrilling game out there, but far from the most boring.
